  The True Nature of Shunning

  although i have been out for 8+ years, my recent experiences with this have taught me quite a bit.

  i believe most here would claim this is what mind controlled people do when they are in contact with a known "former" believer, so i think some deeper understnding of what is really going on is in order.. i always asked why is the "mind control" so effective and how do the organizations that intiate it, learn how to?

  i never really could find a satisfactory answer.

  I believe it's the people behind the GB that are the ones who know the techniques and are implementing them using the GB. I think the GB know it is not the truth but they are controlled by someone else. Just my thoughts, no proof, but it makes sense to me.

  Music you never noticed was ...

  i have friends in very cool jobs.

  my world interacts quite often with music stars, and i have interesting conversations.

  for instance, i was talking with the members of animal kingdom, and asked the lead singer about the lyrics i picked up while listening them perform for the group a few minutes earlier... i felt stupid because i hadn't realized the name of the song, and only had caught a few lyrics... he wrote of mephistopheles.

  We tend to draw from our own lives when we listen to music lyrics. They speak to us in ways that the lyricist may never have meant.

  One of the songs I thought was hauntingly lovely and spiritual is actually about a man yearning for a woman who is a prostitute. Go figure, you know?

  I care too. I hope you keep posting. I apologize for the rudeness of some of the posters here.

  You have music connections? So do I, perhaps we know some of the same people .

  I find your choice of "Sister" as an example to be interesting. The demon in the song was a crushing depression that hit a teenage girl. It is not a particularly religious song at all. I would know, it was written about someone I love by someone I love.

  However, having said that, the songwriter is indeed a spiritual person, as opposed to religious. He also wrote The Northern and Young Cardinals for Alexisonfire , among others. Spiritual but not entirely Christian.

  Barrold Bonds- be careful what you are calling shitty music. City and Colour are an internationally known, award winning band, started as a a side project of Alexisonfire members and some other major musicians. Not shitty at all.

  ? Curious: How many Jehovah's Witnesses leave to join "non-christian" religions, ie; Wicca, Pagan, Satanists, Buddists, Hindu, etc. ?

  it may seem a strange question, but when i served as an elder i personally knew of about a dozen elders and servants children who joined various wicca groups or became buddists rather than leave to become agnostic or another "christian" denomination.. the ones who became involved with witchcraft did so in groups of jw children intregued by all the talk of satan's and the demon's power etc.

  in the org.. the future buddists seemed turned off by the politics, and mean spiritness in halls.. i just thought of this after seeing the new dismal yearbook numbers and looking at facebook pages of some of the ex jws i know.. was this simply a california thing or is it worldwide?.

  I guess you could say I'm a pagan Christian. I am a solitary in that I'm not a member of any group but I have many friends on different pagan paths.

  I have always loved nature and even as a small child collected crystals and rocks. It never made sense to me that there would be God the Father without a Goddess the Mother. When I was 13, I read a book about Wicca and I knew that I was pagan but I fought it for many years, what if the Witnesses were right? I still read everything I could get my hands on even though I was baptised and trying to be a good Witness.

  Many years later, I think I have come home spiritually. Gratitude and personal accountability is of paramount importance in most pagan traditions. " Do what you will except it harm none" and the three and ninefold rules are usually taken very seriously. The sabbats and celebrations are ways of showing gratitude and wonderful ways to bring a family together.

  i have a great group of "heathen worldlings," faded and exjws and i'm gonna try and arrange something for this year.

  there are tons of clubs in my city that throw fantastic parties.

  I love all your ideas! I have celebrated 4 Halloweens with my girls, 3 times taking them trick or treating which is an amazing experience. Who knew?? Once passing out candy at our door, which was fun but not nearly as fun as trick or treating. This year we are definitely going out and later the girls are going to a party.

  Anyone who has never trick or treated should at least go out and watch the people, I never knew our neighbors were so nice. Some people would leave bowls of treats on their porches with a sign to take one and the kids that we saw did just take one. Again, who knew? We always had to turn out our lights and not answer the door until it was all over.

  SAD news about OOMPA......

  our friend, oompa, has passed away.

  just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.

  it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

  Oompa was one of the first to talk to me also. May he find the peace and comfort that he sought in this life. Eric, you are loved and missed by more than you could ever know.

  Moment of silence for Oompa

  i can be very emotional about certain things and when i heard about oompa, even though i don't know him i was sometimes in tears about it, i will miss his posts, what i want to do for oompa is to have a moment of silence for him, i know i don't post on here much am more of a lurker but also i want everyone else to have a moment of silence also for our friend and also for all the others who have committed suicide because of the watchtowers policys..

  demon posession?

  my gradmother used to tell me about a catholic icon at her aunt's house which was demon possesed and once blinked at her.

  Saying "Jehovah" would never stop anything from happening. YHWH is one of the entities that Enochian and other magickal practioners invoke and evoke to help with their work. There are talking boards (similar to ouija) with YHWH and many talismans have it on them. YHWH is considered very hostile but can be controlled by those who know what they are doing.

  I have a lot of magickal objects- candles, crystals,oils, ect. and my very JW husband doesn't have a clue that any of it means anything. Actually, he had a problem controlling his anger and a friend gave me some calming oil that I use on his side of the bed and in his shoes, he does not know I use it and has not had a fit of rage since I started. Surely if this stuff had demons it would bother him.

  Question? Do you know of any “statutory rape”, or “Child Molestation” cases handled as “Consensual sex “(fornication) by Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Judicial Committees?

  i was talking about this with the mrs., and we can recount at least half dozen cases in the last 20 years of adult j.w.

  men having sex with teenage boys or girls.

  not only were the police not informed, but also the victim was treated as a guilty party in fornication.

  Yes, a 25 yo Bible study had sex with a 15 yo one time and confessed to the Elders. The elders did nothing to the perp except ignore him at the meetings. The girl, who was a cutter and had depression issues, was removed as a publisher and there was a marking talk. She was treated as though she responsible for the whole incident. Also the circuit overseer told the Elders to not report it to the police.

  She ended up in the mental hospital several times and was unable to finish highschool. On the bright side, it was the first step out the door of JWs for the girl. She is doing well and will never go back to the cult. Oh yeah, she is getting her GED and going to go to University to be a therapist.

  Merry Christmas (The Ghost of Christmas Past)

  not sure if many remember me, but i wanted to drop in to wish everyone a very merry christmas and happy new year.

  you might recall i disassociated in 2008 after ten long years as a jw.

  it destroyed my marriage, but my ex-wife soon left on her own and we remain as good friends.
